The season got underway on Sunday and the theme for the day appears to have been Sunshine and Controversy. New rules, new bats, and the brightly orange colored pitching mat made for an interesting opening day. In the end,the sun was shining beautifully (unlike the 3C and rain last year on opening day), the bats were a hit (literally and figuratively), the new rules came into play and the mat was discussed (both good and bad) all day long.
