Ladies and gentlemen of the FBL, on behalf of the league, the coaches and the players I want to thank all the volunteers for a great and very successful year. Also, thanks to Cathy for all her hard work as well as the managers for organizing their teams and putting in the time and effort to make the FBL the best damn league to play softball in Vancouver.
Housekeeping Items
1. FBL Mid-Winter Blues Party - details will be coming out soon as to where, where and what we'll be doing, but there will be a fundraising notion to the evening, so come one come all and open your wallets!
2. Slo-Pitch For Kids (SPFK) Tournament - this is one of the highlights of the summer when it comes to ball and the dates are finalized (July 14-15th at Riverway). Registration is not open yet, but once it is, you'll hear about it here. That said, the important item for this event is the kids and we will be looking at organizing a league-wide fundraising effort to show the tournament that the FBL cares. Cathy will be providing some direction on this in the weeks/months to come, but whatever you're doing for fundraising efforts now, keep it up. Every little bit helps and it goes to an amazing cause.
3. Teams for SPFK - if you're on a team that is not fully participating in the SPFK (we have for the most part, 7+ teams last year mixed and matched) and we'll be looking to get full league participation this year. For those teams that are not entering the tournament, we'll be looking to you guys to step up and organize a 'rec-team' to go into the tournament. If you're not regularly playing in the SPFK, talk to Jason or Cathy about this and they can give you details on what you're missing out on and how you can become involved. An "FBL" team would be a great representative in addition to the individual teams that are regularly entered. Remember - it's for the kids.
Cheer and stay tuned for more details for the events and the upcoming Managers Meeting (March/April).
Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve.
