:: 2012 Tournament Updates ::

The 2012 FBL Tournament Wrap Up
Day 2 is officially in the books and the league has crowned a new tournament champion. The Dawgs two year reign ended midday on Sunday after a tough loss to the Riddlers, ending the Dawgs chance at a three-peat. That left the Riddlers and the Sexpos to battle it out in the backdoor semis for a chance to play the still undefeated Skeleton Crew.

Semis: The Riddlers, fresh off their win over the Dawgs wasted no time in getting their bats going and stormed out to a 9-1 lead. The Sexpos, chipped away and played solid defense and managed to claw their way back to pull out a 10-9 victory and earn another crack at the Skeleton Crew.

Finals: The Skeleton Crew came in as the heavy favorites, undefeated for the year. The Sexpos, having yet to have beat the Skeleton Crew in 3 years, were looking to end the Crew's '71 Dolphins Dream of the perfect season (to you Patriot fans..nice try lol). In the end, after pitching changes and big bombs, the Crew did managed to complete the feat - downing the Sexpos 12-9 for their 4th title in 6 years.

Box Score
INNING   1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7
SEXPOS  0 - 1 - 2 - 5 - 0 - 1 - 0
S CREW  0 - 5 - 2 - 5 - 0 - 0 - x
HR: Sexpos - None; Skeleton Crew: G Eisler, M Dewey;

Game Footnote: The play of the game came on a sneaky play by the Sexpos Mike DC as he had raced his way to third on a play. With the thrown having been off the mark, Crew back catcher Sharon S came to grab the ball to prevent it from going out of bounds. The save by Sharon and the coming together of the Crew's pitcher, catch and 3rd baseman left homeplate unattended and Mike had not stopped moving and then streaked towards home. Sharon gave chase, but was two steps behind (to quote Def Leppard) and in her last ditch effort...threw the ball at Mike catching him square in the numbers much to the amusement of the crowd and players alike (it wasn't a hard throw).

Other Sunday Game Round Ups
The Kids and the Franchise both made impressive runs storming out of the gates early to upend the Warriors and Abbies respectively. The Kids then upset the #6 Nads while the Franchise upset the #4 Bears as both teams streaked in the next round with big matchups - The Kids vs Riddlers and the Franchise vs Dawgs. Alas, they appeared to have run out of gas as they both came up short in their bid to play a 4th game on Sunday.

The schedule has been updated with the final results for entire tournament.

Day 1 is in the books and coming out of the results unscathed are the still unbeaten Skeleton Crew after handling the Sexpos 6-1 in the semi-finals. The two fields could be described in opposite manners - the NW field = Offense and the SE field = defense.

Seeds held firm for the most part of the day with only two "upsets" occuring - #5 Riddlers coming back with 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th to upend the Bears along with the #3 Sexpos shutting down the #2 Dawgs 6-1.

VENUS/MARS RECAP
After an uneventful Venus/Mars game, the Veni' won for the second straight year utilizing a boring, painful "put the guy who can't pitch in so we can get walks and score runs and bore the Mars team to sleep" tactic. After much ado about nothing...congrats Veni'.
