:: Final Week Before Season Openers ::

Well, the baby weight contest is closed and over and we have our winner! First, as the updater for the site, I am proud to announce that Clear and I are the happiest parents ever in welcoming our beautiful little girl - Jaicie - into the world. She arrived Monday, April 23, 2012 at 7:52a. Mom and baby are doing amazing and I am proud as proud can be. We'll have a new Sexpo in less than 2 decades (just as dad retired to full time coaching!) and I have a feeling she'll be batting for power and average while wielding a fierce glove. Speed - well, we'll see about that, but she has long legs so far, therefore I'm predicting gazelle-like quickness on the base paths.

Contest Winner: With the only guess of 7lbs 6oz, I'd like to congratulate Laura Skelton on winning $145 (tax free!), but more importantly, we raised $145 to help support the Make-A-Wish foundation. Thank you to everyone for participating. It's not thousands, but every dollar helps and I'm sure we'll have more great fundraising efforts in the months to come before the SPFK. Speaking of which...

SPFK Pre-Party: The organizing committee of the SPFK is hosting a fun night out at Earl's on Fir/Broadway on May 16th, 2012. Details are here (and noted on the right in the news column). As they state, this is not a fundraising event, just a night to get out, meet some of the other teams, have a drink and share a laugh. You don't have to register on the Facebook page, but it you can indicate that you'll be attending, it'll help them plan the numbers around the event.

Field Prep & Fun Ball Game*: Next Saturday (May 5), a group of people will be heading to the FBL field to help get the field ready for the season (lines, clean up, general prep) so it would be nice to have ample numbers to make light work of this necessary activity. Willie (Dawgs) will be the man in charge of the lines, but helping him out and cleaning up whatever needs to be done will be greatly appreciated. Following that, we'll be having a fun game to shake loose any final (or thick) rust prior to our first official games the next day. See the schedule (mobile version here) for when your team plays. The field prep efforts will begin around 12p on Saturday. Please show up and lend a hand if you can. It will be greatly appreciated. Afterwards, we'll have a game and share a drink and a few laughs.
* - weather permitting - contact House to see if weather is an issue on May 5
