:: 2016 - Week 9 Recap ::

Well, after a week off for the SPFK, the teams poured back onto the fields for some epic battles. Start to finish, games were tight and in some cases, extra innings were required.

The day started out with an upset based on the standings, as the Nads overpowered the Aces 17-8 to move to 6-3 while dropping the Aces back to 7-3 and out of top spot. The Nads now hold the tiebreaker over the Aces in the final standings.

In game two, the Kids fought hard against the defending playoff champs, but in the end, the Marvels opened it up late in the game to walk off with an 18-8 win. That win moves the Marvels up to 7-3, sitting in a virtual tie with the Aces and Nads (all have 3 losses). The Kids fall to 1-9.

Game three brought the Sexpos and Seymour Results back together for a rematch of week 1. In similar fashion to week 1, the Sexpos defense held tight, holding Seymour to a single run and improved their record to 7-2 with a 13-1 win. Seymour falls to 0-9.

The mid-afternoon game was the game of the day - as the Skeleton Crew squared off with the always tough Franchise. Defense was the key to this game as the two squads refused to give an inch and while teams put runners in scoring position, neither team broke and we ended up knotted at 3s at the end of 7. In the extra inning, the Crew managed to move their winning run around on the heels of back to back hits, walking off with a 4-3 win and currently it in top spot (via tiebreaker) in the league. The Franchise fell to 4-6.

In the finale, old time rivals hooked horns as the Riddlers and Dawgs took to the field. Again, defense ruled in this game, with the Riddlers staking themselves to a 4-0 lead, before the Dawgs dropped 4 of their own in the top half of the 5th inning to even the score. After exchanging pairs of runs in the 6th, the Dawgs move ahead with another pair in the 7th to come away with a solid 8-6 win and keeps their chances for the regular season title alive - moving up to 5-4. The Riddlers fall to 3-6.

Don't forget - there is no ball on July 31st (long weekend). The league will reconvene on August 7th as we hit the homestretch and teams fight for the honor of Regular Season Champions.
