:: 2017 - Week 4 ::

Week 4 started slowly in the weather department, but the Commissioner put in a call and turned on the sunshine for all the Mothers out there.

Game 1 of the day brought out some serious game faces as the Dawgs were relentless in the pursuit of victory, rolling up on the restaffed Riddlers 23-4. The rain fell consistently all game, but that did not deter the Dawgs from pounding the ball. The Dawgs move over .500 and now sit in a tied for 3rd at 3-2.

The South field late morning game saw the two remaining undefeated teams match up as that defending Playoff Champs, the Nads, fought it out with the defending Regular Season Champs, Skeleton Crew, The game started out with defense being the name of the game, but the Crew opened up their bats to take what looked like a comfortable 8-2 lead, only to have the Nads chip away and battle back to a tie heading into the final inning - where the Crew managed to eke a run across the plate and then shut the Nads bats down in the bottom of the inning. The Nads fell to 4-1.

On the north field's late morning game, the Marvels found their path to victory for the first time in 2017 laying the smack down on the Riddlers, 16-3. The Marvels, certainly better than their opening 0-4 record, chalked up their first victory, while leaving the Riddlers with two losses on the day and falling to .500 for the season at 3-3.

The early afternooner on the south field brought the Marvels and Seymour Results together and in a relatively low-scoring defensive affair, the Marvels upped their record to 2-4 with their second win in a row with a 9-2 win over Seymour. Seymour results falls to 1-4 and currently in a three way tie for 8th.

The north field's second game had another battle scheduled as the Aces and Skeleton Crew mixed it up for the first time since the Aces upset the Crew in the semi-finals of the 2016 FBL tournament playoffs. The Crew were coming off a tough 1-run victory over the Nads, the Aces were coming in having been shut out for the previous 8 innings - and that string continued in the early stages, as the Crew held the Aces off the scoreboard until the 5th inning. With some early runs and solid defense, the Crew pulled out the 16-6 win, moving their winning streak to 5 and sit atop the standings at 5-0.

The 230p game saw the Aces looking to redeem themselves against the league's newcomers, Canniballs. The Aces had their bats in this game and locked things down on defense as well and steamrolled the Canniballs 22-4, raising the Aces record to .500 at 2-2, while the Canniballs fell to 1-4, tied for 8th.

The end of the day match pitted the Sexpos and the Franchise against each other. The Sexpos managed to hold the Franchise bats in check and won the game  9-4, leaving the Sexpos in a tie for 3rd with the Dawgs at 3-2. The Franchise, coming up on the short end of another tight game, fall to 1-4, a record that does not reflect their play.

The FBL wishes the Mothers in the league a happy belated Mother's Day!

Reminder - there are no games next week (21-May) due to the long weekend and when we do reconvene, we will have a 1-week stint over at U-Hill. Stay tuned for updates between now and then.
