:: 2017 - Week 3 ::

The season is now full swing and battles are being had on (and at times off) the field. Two teams remain undefeated, while one team remains winless after a record setting day on the field.

The daily opener saw the Sexpos and Seymour square off in what would become a secondary affair as Sexpos Outfield Ian D suffered a freak accident in which a ball ricocheted off a branch during a fairly routine pop-up and ended up plunking him between the eyes. Our thoughts are out to Ian and we wish him a speedy recovery and to have him back on the field soon. On the field, the Sexpos walked away with a 12-5 victory, leaving Seymour with a 1-3 record.

In the 1130 slots, we had the Aces and Dawgs squaring off in the south field while the Sexpos and Riddlers locked up on the north field. What resulted is something that has never happened in the history of the FBL and likely for almost any coed softball league and likely to never happen for another 50 years - both games were won with shutouts!

Yes, dual goose-eggs took home the highlight of the weekend as the Dawgs smothered the Aces 8-0 while the Riddlers jumped on the Sexpos 17-0. The Sexpos fall to 2-2, while the Aces from the undefeated ranked to 2-1.

The early afternoon match ups had the Skeleton Crew and Riddlers setting up shop on the south field, the Riddlers fresh of that 17-0 lambasting of the Sexpos. The North field has the Dawgs defense looking to suffocate the surprisingly winless Marvels.

The Skeleton Crew and Riddlers battled it out with each team taking serious blows, but keeping their feet under them and never letting the other team get out of reach. A few bases-loaded situations were squandered by the Riddlers, enivitably costing them their chance for victory as the Crew eked out a 9-7 win. That pushed the Crew up to 3-0 while knocking the Riddlers from the undefeated ranks and leaving them at 3-1.

On the north field, the Dawgs defense held tight for 5 more innings of shut out ball, but only after giving up a big 5-run first and followed it with 5-run 6th, but wouldn't let the Marvels do anymore damage whilst pounding out 18-runs and moving their record back to .500.

In the mid-afternoon affair, the Franchise and Marvels hooked up  - the match up of the last two winless teams. The bats were warming up for both squads, but the Franchise took advantage of their opportunities to squeak by with a 12-10 win, their first of the year. The Franchise moved to 1-3, while the Marvels fell to 0-3.

The final match up of the day had the defending champs, the Nads, hosting the newcomers - the Canniballs. The Nads continued their torrid scoring pace with another 15 runs score, while holding the upstart Canniballs to 5 and closing out the day in first place, at 4-0. The Canniballs fell to 1-3.

On a note related to the injury to Ian - it is reminded that EACH team should have their own first aid kit at the field and properly stocked. Please do not depend on other teams or the league provide all first aid materials. Your players are your safety concern, The league will have some back up materials, but should not the lone source of first aid materials at the field.
