So, week 3 arrived sans sun, but we managed a full slate and the rain held off for the whole day.
Game 1 featured two undefeated teams as the Nads and Sexpos butted heads. The Nads jumped out to a solid 4 run lead, but the Sexpos battled back to take a 3-run lead heading into the bottom of the 7th. Shaky fielding by the Sexpos 3rd baseman and some timely hitting allowed the Nads to battle back, but eventually fell just short - falling 16-15 in the end.
Game 2 showed off the resiliency of the Aces as they bounced back from two tough losses to take their first win. In doing so, they also handed the Kids their third tough loss to start the season. The Kids can look to exact some revenge as the two teams meet up again August 14.
Game 3 was certainly the game of the day - a tooth and nail scrap between the Riddlers and the Franchise. The Riddlers looked to have the game well in hand, leading by 7 heading into the 7th inning. That's when the Franchise unleashed hell on the bats and put up 9-spot on the board to take a 2-run lead with the Riddlers coming to the plate. The Riddlers battled, but the Franchise held tight to close out their massive comeback and put their first win up after two losses by a combined runs.
To ensure the crowd on hand wasn't let down, the battle of the dynasty teams took to the field next - featuring the Skeleton Crew and the Dawgs. A seesaw affair saw the sluggers engage in a defensive battle while still mashing out some big hits. In the end, the Dawgs stepped up and took the Crew down, pulling out a 10-6 victory to bump their record to 2-1 while the Crew falls to 2-1.
The end of day match up featured teams at opposite ends of the standings - the defending champion Marvels (2-0) against the 0-2 Seymour Results. The result was as the standings would expect, a handy victory by the Marvels, taking it home with a 25-14 win and remain undefeated for the season.
The standings and stats are updated as well.
Enjoy the two-week hiatus and see you all in June.
