:: 2017 - Week 2 ::

Week 2 went off better than Week 1 - simply based on the fact that there were no forfeits. Well done teams. And we introduced our first set of double headers! Ground breaking day! And of course - the sunshine (and wind)!

In the opener, the Marvels and Nads hooked up in an early season must-see. It was a tight affair with both teams taking leads at one point. The Marvels clawed back to tie the game with a solid 5-run 5th inning, but couldn't push another across the plate in the 7th, leaving the doors open for the Nads to secure their second win in walk-off fashion.

In the second game, the Skeleton Crew and Seymour Results butted heads. Seymour jumped out quick with their bats, throwing up a 2-spot in the top of the first. But their bats went silent for 5 innings after that and they fell to the Crew 22-4.

In the first of two double headers on the North field, the Nads and the Franchise took to the turf. A battle ensued and after a number of long bombs and great plays, the Nads extended their winning streak to 7 games, longest active streak in the FBL. The Franchise took another tough loss.

The early afternoon game on the south field brought Franchise and the Aces together. The Aces, going with the non-traditional 5 guys, 5 girls lineup, managed to  dance by the Franchise ever so slightly, 10-9.

The second double header on the north field pitted Seymour and the Canniballs. Seymour came in looking to get into the win column for 2017 and jumped out to a quick 13-3 lead and never looked back as they welcomed the Canniballs to the league with a 21-6 drubbing.

The Canniballs hooked up in the second half of their double header with the revamped Riddlers. Battling in a tough, hard fought affair, the Canniballs earned the respect of the Riddlers, but unfortunately, not the victory as the Riddlers came through with a 16-12 win, moving the Riddlers to 2-0 on the year, while the Canniballs dropped to 1-2.

Week 2's closing game brought together the Week 1 forfeits - the Dawgs and the Sexpos - albeit with teams on the field. In what has become a nearly decade long affair between these two teams, nearly every game is a tight, defensive battle. This time, the Sexpos tightened up and eked out the 11-9 victory, putting their first win of the year on the board, improving to 1-1. The Dawgs fell to 0-2.

Just a reminder to the teams: Please clean up your garbage - YOU are responsible for your own mess. This is not going to be cleaned up by the 4p teams. Penalties will ensue if we have problems. The commissioner has received multiple complaints about individuals/teams over the first two weeks - not a great start. If a team continues to offend, they will forfeit a win each time. If an individual continues to offend, they will be suspended from playing in the league one game per offense. So, come prepared with a bag for your own garbage. If you worry about you, then everything is covered!
