:: 2017 - Week 10 ::

After the long weekend break and Canada's 150th birthday celebrations, the league took back to the field under sunny skies and continued warm temperatures. Although, things got a little 'shitty' at one point.

The opener paired the Aces and Sexpos with both teams coming in with only 4 losses on the season. The Aces put up runs consistently throughout the game and fought through the Sexpos relentlessness and walked off with a sound 14-5 win to remain tied for 2nd.

The next game had the Sexpos taking back to the field in a match up with the ever dangerous Nads - less their coach who's likely out for the season with a broken ankle. This one was every bit as exciting as their first match up, as 13-11 Nads win. They exchanged runs and in the 7th, with the Sexpos ahead 12-7, the Nads mounted the rally. With two outs and the tying run on 3rd and the go ahead run on 2nd, the rally fell 60' short as the Sexpos put an end to it and held on for a 12-11 victory. With the win, the Sexpos improved to 7-5 on the year and sit in 5th place, one half game ahead of the now 7-6 Nads.

On the far diamond, the Dawgs walked into a dog fight that they weren't expecting. The upstart Canniballs took an early lead on the Dawgs and held that lead until the 5th inning, only to see the resurgent Dawgs show their experience and fought back with a couple big innings and walk away with a solid 12-4 win and keeping pace with the Aces in the battle for 2nd place. The Dawgs now hold a 9-4 record while the Canniballs valiantly fall to 1-11.

The early afternoon affair had the new look Seymour Results trying to keep the Nads down. They started off fast with a 5-2 lead after the first, but it turned out not to be their day again - as they Nads outscored the 16-3 the rest of the way. Suffering their first actual defeat in 4 games that didn't come by way of forfeit, Seymour falls to 2-11 and holding off the Canniballs. The Nads sit in 6th.

With the heat mounting, the Franchise and Riddlers locked horns in an intense battle. The Riddlers were fighting to stay near the top and seeking their 9th win while the Franchise was looking to close ground on the Nads. In the end, the Riddlers held on for a tight 12-10 win, improving their record to 9-5 while the Franchise fell to 5-7. The teams sit in 4th and 7th respectively.

The finale had the Marvels and Skeleton Crew playing. The Marvels struggled with their bats and fought to put up 4 runs while the Skeleton Crew's defense played solidly all game. Some large hits by the Crew resulted in them increasing their lead-league record to 11-1 after taking the game 13-4. The Marvels fell to a surprising 3-9 on the year.

Outside the games a few things to be noted:
1. Garbage collection was much improved, but teams still need to stop leaving garbage bags attached to fences when they leave the field. Take them with you and dispose of your own garbage.
2. Bathrooms are there to allow players to relieve themselves, but we still must abide by the long standing rule - "No deucing!" If this was an emergency, that's understand - all we ask is that you clean things up afterwards yourself (or after your child as has been the case before). It's extremely unfair to have another team have to deal with that type of situation.

Remember - we are off again this week as the league gets put on hold while many are playing in the SPFK Make A Wish Charity softball tournament. If you're interested in coming out to watch, you can check out the FBL team's schedules here (noting that some team names are slightly different):
